Zachary Jacob Holzapfel
January 22, 1981 – October 27, 2026

Zachary Jacob Holzapfel passed away on October 27, 2026, in Orem, Utah, leaving behind a legacy defined entirely by his profound love for people. Born on January 22, 1981, in Santa Ana, California, Zac spent his life building deep, meaningful connections with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

His charismatic, people-first nature was evident from his youth. A naturally popular student and a dedicated class president, Zac had the rare ability to bridge gaps and make everyone feel included. His education took him on a vibrant journey across different communities and cultures. He attended schools in Irvine, California; South Summit in Kamas, Utah; Anglican International School in Jerusalem; and Provo High School in Provo, before attending Brigham Young University. Everywhere he went, he left an indelible mark and a trail of lifelong friends.

Growing up, he loved and was loyal to his parents and siblings. Richard Neitzel Holzapfel and Jeni Broberg Holzapfel were joyful when Zac was born. They are eternally grateful that he came to live with them. For his siblings, Nate Holzapfel, Zanna Beckstead, Marin James, and Bailey Holzapfel, he was “Mr. Mom,” watching out and caring for each of them. The depth of their loss cannot be overstated. He was also an amazing son-in-law and brother-in-law. Troy Lee Beasley and Paula Brainich Beasley felt they had gained a son when Zac married their vibrant and lovely daughter. For Kate’s siblings, Zach Beasley, Nick Beasley, and Kara Beasley Heywood, he was a true brother.

While Zac was remarkably successful in business, his professional achievements were the least of his concerns and the last thing he ever wanted to talk about. To Zac, true success wasn’t measured in business and investment profits, but in the depth of his relationships. Nevertheless, his primary business venture was Mission Belt, a company with a true mission: to help others by donating to a micro-loan organization that impacted countless people around the world, particularly women in developing economies attempting to become self-sufficient. His motto was “A hand up, not a hand out,” and he also donated generously to various other humanitarian projects. He was genuinely interested in people, always leaning in to listen, understand, and lift others up.

The true center of Zac’s universe was his family. He married the love of his life, Kate Beasley Holzapfel, and together they built a life rooted in devotion and joy. Zac fiercely adored their two boys, Jojo and Teddy, who were his greatest pride and happiness. One cannot truly understand Zac without understanding his role as a husband and father; he was quite simply the best. He knew exactly how to play and have fun with his boys.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling many roles and responsibilities, including serving a two-year mission in the Costa Rica San Jose Mission. He was currently serving as a member of his local congregation's Bishopric—a position dedicated to caring for members of the ward. It was often said that people in his neighborhood and congregation knew there was a Santa Claus because Zac visited each home, leaving a thoughtful gift or treat. Even in his service to the Church, his community, and the state of Utah, individuals were always his first and foremost priority.

Zac deeply understood what it meant to be intentional. He didn't just hold titles; he threw his whole heart into being a devoted son, a supportive brother, a fun uncle, a loving husband, and an extraordinary father. He showed up for the people he knew and loved with purpose, consistency, and an open heart.
The void left by his sudden departure is immeasurable. As one person beautifully noted, "I can't imagine a world without Zac." While the world is undoubtedly dimmer without his warmth, his spirit lives on in the family he cherished so deeply and the countless lives he transformed just by being himself.
