Victor Chapman Obituary (1926 - 2017)

Obituary for Victor Loren Chapman Victor Loren Chapman (known as "neighbor" to many) passed away peacefully on September 16th in Provo, Utah two days after his 91st birthday. He was born in Bluewater, New Mexico on September 14, 1926. He served an LDS mission to the North Central States Mission and upon his return he married his childhood sweetheart, Florence Elaine Roundy, who passed away December 8, 2010. He was a military veteran, having served in the Army Air Force toward the end of WWII and again in the U.S. Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He had a long and successful career working for the Federal Government in New Orleans, Louisiana and Washington DC. After retiring from the Federal Government, he had a second career in residential real estate. He served in a number of leadership capacities in the LDS church in the Washington DC area including Bishop of the Oakton Ward and President of the Fredericksburg, Virginia Stake. He and his wife were called to preside over the Las Vegas, Nevada Mission from 1984 to 1987. They retired to a farm in Mexico, Missouri in 1996. He is survived by a sister, Dixie Applegate, his nine children, Val Chapman (Arlene), Arlene Carlson (Kendal), Lynn Chapman (Susie), Janelle Clark, Annette Taylor, Julie Gifford (Jim), Robyn Price (Robert), Loralin Dewey (Brett) and Michael Chapman (Joanne), as well as 59 of his 61 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing at 5:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 23rd, at Nelson Family Mortuary in Provo. Interment with a graveside service will be at the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Bluewater, New Mexico on Monday, September 25th at 4:00 pm.
