Tammi Utter

–

Cedar Hills, Utah

Tammi Taylor Utter of Cedar Hills, Utah passed away on Thursday, September 26th at home with family. She had battled cancer for 15 months.

Tammi was born October 1st, 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Lela and Dennis Taylor. She grew up in Boise and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1977. She attended Rick’s College and graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Tammi married Russ Radford and in 1982 they welcomed their daughter Ann into the world. They later divorced. Tammi married her sweetheart, Bradley Jay Utter, in the Idaho Falls temple on June 13th, 1992. The new trio enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, frequent trips to Yellowstone and vacationing with extended family.

Tammi went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development and her Administrative Certification. She spent 40 years in education; teaching at Little People's Academy, Hawthorne, Sunnyside and Linden Park Elementary; and as principal at Linden Park and Fox Hollow Elementary. She loved her students and the colleagues she worked with.

Tammi loved traveling, reading, gardening, hiking, sewing, knitting, learning, and enjoyed stopping at historic landmarks. During retirement she was able to travel with her husband to hike through Zion’s, Capitol Reef, Valley of Fire, Kanab and take their trailer camping. They also traveled to the four corners area, South Dakota to bike, the Caribbean, and on a church history tour. She loved learning as well as teaching. In our travels she would always have a useful bit of information that she pulled from her vast knowledge about whatever it was that we were seeing or doing. She spent many hours serving her family including her beloved grandsons, nieces and nephews. Tammi also served her community and ward members through various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a firm testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, of temples, and of family.

She is survived by her husband Brad, her parents Dennis and Lela Taylor, her brother Kurt (Reneé) Taylor, her daughter Ann (James) Porter, and her grandsons Owen and Marcus.
