Our sweet and loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend Tamara Christen Petereit Welch Shook passed away unexpectedly on July 6th, 2025 in Myton, Utah, at the age of 43.
Tamara was born the second of six children to her parents, Natalie and Jon Petereit on April 12th, 1982 in Billings, Montana.
Growing up Tami was an absolute angel. She had a cute smile and a sweet spirit. She was very bright and excelled in school from a young age. She also loved music and learned to play the violin exquisitely.
Tamara was always a great help to her parents in caring for her siblings growing up. She continued this into adulthood, staying close with her brothers and sisters through thick and thin.
Tamara and her first husband Mark had two beautiful children together, Lance Christopher Welch and Samantha Jane Welch. They are the loves of her life. She also became stepmom to Mark’s kids Shayla Welch and Alex Welch. Later in life she married Brian Shook and became a step mother again to his son Joe Shook.
Tamara worked many years at a local dry cleaner in Springville, Utah, where she got to know and became friends with many people in town. More recently she worked as a CNA in a care facility and became a supervisor there. She had a soft spot for the elderly, and her elderly patients adored her.
Despite her many health issues, she remained optimistic and retained her quirky and fun sense of humor. Tam was very empathetic and had a special way of making those around her feel understood. She was kind hearted, enjoyed camping, loved her family, and loved spending time with her grandfather, “Pop”. No doubt, she is lovingly reunited with Pop and Gram. She is free from all the pain and challenges that afflicted her in this life.
Proud mother, loving daughter, sister, auntie, friend. She is sorely missed and will live on in all of the lives she touched. Those she left behind will cherish the memories they have with her.
Tamara is survived by her children Lance Welch and Samantha Welch; her parents Jon Petereit (Kate), Natalie Coley (John); her siblings Tonja Glad, Jonathon Petereit, Jordan Petereit (Kaleigh), Teralin Petereit, Tiahna Petereit; her grandmother Kalae Knight; and many other loving family members.
Viewing Services will be held Saturday July 19th, 2025 from 10am-12pm at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N University Ave., Provo, Utah.
