Provo, Utah
On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, in Provo, Utah, our beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister, and friend passed away. She peacefully left us for the other side of the veil after valiantly and courageously fighting cancer for a full year. Her spirit was so strong, spiritually and physically, to the end. She was full of love for God and for her family and friends. During this battle, she recognized and was filled with gratitude for her many blessings. She had prepared herself in every way to be worthy for the time when God would choose to take her home. She had great faith and trust in the Savior. She eliminated any and all negativity and reached her full potential as a daughter of God. She was and is an inspiration to all of us. She was never so beautiful and so at peace than at the very end. For eternity, she will have an amazing influence on our lives, especially with her husband and children.
Stephanie was born on Sunday Easter morning, April 11, 1974, in Thousand Oaks, CA., to Doug and Margie Horne. She was their fourth child. She had a very happy childhood, filled with wonderful memories. Her growing family gave her eight siblings. When she was 13, her family moved to Provo, Utah. She attended Farrer Junior High and Timpview High School. She also attended Brigham Young University. She graduated in Early Child Education and was able to teach kindergarten after she was married, before she became a mother.
On July 20, 1995, Stephanie married Brian Snyder in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four wonderful children, Jasen, Ali, Olivia, and Peyton. Stephanie loved being a mother. She cherished helping them become their very best selves. They lived in Provo and then Sandy, Utah; Owings Mill, Maryland; Saratoga Springs, Pleasant Grove, and then Orem, Utah. In January of 2016, Stephanie and Brian were divorced. Both were later remarried.
On September 14, 2018, Stephanie married her sweetheart and best friend, Carlos Thomson, at Sundance, Utah. Because Stephanie has always enjoyed traveling, in the last year her family has built memories with trips around the world. Carlos has been lovingly devoted to her through every challenge that Stephanie has had, and he has brought great joy into her life and to her children. Together, they have been united in building a joyful home and preparing for eternity.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Carlos Christian Thomson, and her four children: Jasen Brian Snyder (1998), Alison Margaret Snyder (2000), Olivia Stephanie Snyder (2003), and Peyton Grace Snyder (2007); also, her ex-husband, Brian Chipman Snyder (Laura). Her oldest brother, Steven Douglas Horne (wife is Christine), passed away March 31, 2019. Stephanie is also survived by her parents: William Douglas Horne and Margaret Bentley Horne; and her seven siblings: Lisa Maurine Hull (Troy), Mark Hamilton Horne (Lindsay), Darin Bentley Horne (Jennifer), Ryan William Horne, Tyler Anthony Horne (Heather), Shauna Margaret Nixon (Judd), and Michelle Amber Russell (Regan).
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Cascade LDS 4th Ward, 400 North 400 East, Orem. The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the same church at 11:30am with a viewing just prior from 10:00 am – 11:15am. The interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 N. 650 E., Provo, Utah.
