Soren Peter Bille Edsberg, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, died September 25th, 2021. His journey home to his beloved wife, parents, sister, and friends was guided by his devoted children.\n\nSoren was born October 10th, 1945 in Copenhagen, Denmark to parents Knud and Kirsten Edsberg. He spent his youth enjoying the outdoors and watching his father cultivate a successful career of painting. Soren learned from his father and began cultivating his own success creating artwork that would make him known to the world. He studied and exhibited all over the world from Scandinavia to Japan, Australia and the United States. He also honed and cultivated a strong faith that would guide and affect his work, his family and his travels. His conversion to the LDS church led him to meet his beloved wife, Johnna. Soren’s acclaimed work, “The Course of Life” series, begged the questions: ‘Where do we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going?’. His deep belief in his Heavenly Father and the priesthood afforded him the capacity to ponder the answers to these questions, and blessed his life in immeasurable ways.\n\nHis life’s adventure with his beloved began early and stayed strong throughout their 55 years together. Settling in Utah from Denmark with their 7 children, Soren taught as an adjunct art professor at BYU and started his path toward acquiring, sharing and teaching with art that so many observed in appreciation and admiration. His life’s work to enrich those around him with beauty and spirituality was achieved through the opening of Hope Gallery; exhibiting its incomparable U.S. collection of original Scandinavian art and the featured series “Life of Christ” by Danish painter Carl Bloch. He leaves a legacy of a loving family, artistic contributions to the public and his community, and a faith that will live on through those with whom he shared it.\n\nSoren was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gitte. He is survived by his 7 adoring children and their spouses (David and Kamme (Gordon) Edsberg, Eva (Edsberg) and Allen Nelson, Thomas Edsberg, Sarah (Edsberg) and Eric Sweeten, Camilla (Edsberg) and Thomas Fowler, Hannah (Edsberg) and Chris Ryan, and Michael and Laurie (Ketchum) Edsberg). His 15 grandchildren (Brieanna, Johnathan, Mackenzie, Maegen (husband Nate), Sidney, Callie, Malena, Nickolai, Magnus, Henry, Charlie, Abi, Gabriel, Joshua and Isaac) will miss the gentleness, wisdom and warmth that was always felt in his presence.\n\nA private service will be held for the family.\nIn lieu of condolence arrangements, we ask that any flowers be sent to your parents, grandparents, or those you hold dear.
