Sandra Stubben

–

Draper, Utah

Sandra passed away peacefully on the evening of October 30, 2023, with her husband and family members by her side. We will miss Sandra deeply, but we are comforted by our testimony that she has returned to her heavenly home and her mind is whole after a long battle with dementia.

Sandra led a full life filled with love, faith, and adventure. She was born on January 9, 1944, in Shiloh Valley Township, Illinois. On November 11, 1966, Sandra married the love of her life, Tom Stubben. Their enduring love story is a testament to their shared faith and commitment.

Sandra resided in various places around the world, including Tehran, Iran, and, most notably, Westlake, Ohio, where she lived for 23 years, and where all five of her children graduated from high school. She has lived in Draper, Utah, since 2000 in order to be closer to family.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a vital part of Sandra's life. Her steadfast devotion was evident in her service as a ward primary president, ward young women's president, gospel doctrine teacher, stake relief society president, and as a member of stake young women and primary presidencies. She was a loving ministering sister throughout her life. Her reliable nature and thoughtful actions touched many lives.

Known for her talents in education, Sandra worked as an elementary school teacher for two years while Tom finished his degree. She impacted many young lives with her wisdom and kindness. Her passion for learning extended beyond the classroom, culminating in a successful career as an author of a series of 12 phonics books for elementary school students and the first history of the Cleveland Ohio Stake. Sandra's hobbies included travel as well as family history and scripture study, both of which reflect her strong connection with her faith and ancestry. Later in life, she served nearly 12 years as a church service missionary at the Riverton FamilySearch Library.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Thomas O. Stubben, and their beloved children: Michael (Melissa) Stubben, Lara (Robert) Burton, Chris (Stacy) Stubben, Steve (Annie) Stubben, and Jennifer (David) Hatch.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael--Eric (Kayla), Sean, Kristin, Adam; Lara--Forrest; Chris--Sara (Nick) Hansen, Lauren (Nate) Kelley; Steve--David, Kate, Mary, Christian (17), Sarah (16); and Jennifer--Owen (14), Samuel (11), Theodore (8). Sandra leaves behind her siblings Craig (Deniece) Ord, Bonnie (Jim) Lyons, and Mary (Joe) Mildenhall. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Faun Ord, grandson Thomas Burton (Lara), and daughter-in-law Catie Stubben (Steve).

Sandra's legacy will continue through the love and faith she instilled in her family and all who knew her. We invite all who knew Sandra to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page as a tribute to this remarkable woman.

We welcome family and friends to celebrate Sandra's life on Saturday, November 4 at the Grandview 5th Ward chapel in Provo (1555 N. 1350 W.). There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral at 11:00 a.m.
