Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Samuel Ray Goodwin\n\r\n\t\t\t\tSamuel Ray Goodwin 1919 – 2016 Samuel Ray Goodwin passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 17, 2016. Born November 12, 1919 in Plad, Dallas County Missouri to Johnny Wesley Goodwin and Mary Jane Scobee. He spent his early years as a youth in Kansas, During High School his family moved to Soda Springs, ID He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on his 22nd birthday at the start of World War II. He was a radar operator and Navigator on B-25 Bombers flying bombing missions In the Aleutian Islands. After the war he returned to the States settling in Salt Lake City, Utah where he met his wife, Lorine. He worked as a salesman for Purity Biscuit (now Keebler Company) for 35 years. Sam was an active member of the LDS Church and he served in many callings. Sam and his wife Lorine served as Temple missionaries in the Chicago and St. Louis Temples for 18 years. Sam married Lorine Swainston on November 1, 1946 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake temple. He survived by his children Samuel R., (Susan), Robert H, (Sharon), Pamela L Salmond (Brad); Bret, (Tonya); and Michael A. (Donna). He has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death of his wife Lorine, parents, and all of his brothers (Bob, Cliff, Howard, Leo) and sisters (Opal and Mamie). Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at 11am in the Lakeview LDS Stake Center, 2801 W. 620 N. Provo, with a viewing prior to services from 9am to 10:30am. Interment will be held in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
