Richard Hebner

–

Springville, Utah

Richard Hebner, 79, of Springville, Utah passed away on Monday April 18, 2022. He was born March 23, 1943. Rich was born in Payson, Utah to Phillip Arthur Hebner and Rudy Ellen Linton. He married Una Rae Averett on May 14th, 1993, and one year later married in the Manti Temple (the same temple his parents we're married in) for time and all eternity.

Rich enjoyed an array of interests such as bowling. He bowled for years in a competitive bowling league. He loved playing horseshoes, golf, and especially football, his favorite team being the Chicago Bears. Rich loved spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and going up the canyon to look for wild mushrooms in the springtime.

Rich was a highly skilled finished carpenter, which skills he used as a profession, at home, and to help anyone he could in his personal time. In addition, to being a talented carpenter he was a jack of all trades. In Rich's later years he was employed by the City of Springville, providing a platform to showcase his endless handyman skills. Working for the city, Rich acquired many new friends and interesting opportunities, such as driving the Springville float in parades across Utah county.

Rich found great joy in helping others and loved spending time with his family. With Rich’s fun, loving personality and the best sense of humor, he was always ready to joke around and laugh. As an on-going joke Rich enjoyed messing up his grandkid’s hair. If grandpa's hair happened to get messy, he was always prepared to fix it with his ever-ready back-pocket comb.

Rich loved his family and the Gospel. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of fifty. Temple work and genealogy were always close to his heart. Rich served as a Temple worker at the Provo Temple and together Rich and Una served as ward genealogists at the genealogy center in Springville.

Over the years Rich endured many surgeries including, knees, ears, and heart. In addition to that, he also fought bladder and throat cancer. Over time, the effects of radiation on his throat led him to need several throat surgeries. It goes without saying, Rich was a fighter and determined to conquer any challenge life threw his way.

Rich was forever a dreamer, always ready to win any sweepstakes. Rich was a kid at heart, going down water slides with his grandkids, playing bottle flip games, along with anything that brought an edge of competition, joy, and laughter. Rich had a huge heart, forever-caring, and forgiving ways as he lived each day of his life.

Rich is survived by his son, Richie Hebner of Mobile, Alabama; step-son, Kraig Glazier of Helena, Montana; step-daughter Virginia (James) Eddleman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Rueben Johnson of Springville, Utah; TyAthos Larsen of Springville, Utah; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, nieces and nephews.
