Neil Jones Frischknecht

–

Midway, Utah

Neil Jones Frischknecht, known affectionately by many as Neil J, was born on October 17, 1947, in Gunnison, Utah, and passed away on November 4, 2025 of cancer after a valiant two year battle. His life was a testament to the qualities of adventure, creativity, resilience, and talent. He was an adventurous spirit, always looking for the next exciting journey, whether it be a new book to devour, a creative project to dive into, or a new travel adventure.

Neil attended BY High where he played football. He then graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Microbiology, and later from Illinois College of Optometry, showcasing dedication to his academic endeavors. He was an accomplished optometrist, providing his valuable services in Utah until his retirement in 2020. His talent, however, extended beyond his professional career. Neil, following in his father's footsteps, found great joy in planting and researching seeds. His creativity was endless. Whether he was sketching out a home, building a cabin or experimenting with stained glass, and watercolors, he was always finding new ways to make something beautiful.

Neil was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a two year mission in Germany. He met some wonderful companions/friends while teaching the Gospel. He also taught as a Primary Teacher alongside his wife, Judy, for 12 years, and was the Youth Sports Coach and Referee for many years . He loved the Gospel and his favorite verse was John 15:12, "As I have loved you, love one another." He was a devoted husband to Judy, whom he lovingly called Judiful for 21 years. Neil helped raise four children from his first marriage; Jason, Melissa, Jessica and Parker. He was deeply proud of them and loved seeing the different paths their lives took.

Neil will be remembered for for his humor and the lasting memories he created at every family gathering, especially weddings. He was a natural teacher, encouraging and eager to share his skills with anyone who wanted to learn.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Judy; three of his four children, Jason (Amy) Frischknecht, Melissa (Ben) Ward, Parker (Jess) Frischknecht; 6 siblings, Carol Ann (Lee) Bahr, Joan (LaMar) Sayer, Bobby Jo (Kerm) Jackson, Jill (Don) Andrews, Mark Frischknecht, Jenny Frischknecht; Sister-in law, Cheryl Frischknecht; 2 bonus step-children; Tara (Alexis) Millar, Josh (Genae) Millar; 11 grandchildren (plus one on the way), Ella Ward, Ava (Braden) Pay, Elijah Ward, Payton Frischknecht, Caprice Millar, Hazel Ward, Mataya Millar, Conrad Frischknecht, Franco Millar, Charlotte Frischknecht, Nera Millar.
