Nacele Johnson Stewart Hart
January 12, 1940 ~ April 3, 2021
A life well lived and loved by all who knew her

Nacele Johnson Stewart Hart, 81, died peacefully in her home on Easter weekend surrounded by loved ones in Orem, Utah.

Nacele was born January 12, 1940 to loving parents Ellwood Lewis Johnson and Ida Martha (Hansen) in Garland, Utah. She was the last of seven children and a delight to her parents and siblings. She grew up helping on the family farm, loving and playing with her dolls, stuffed animals, paper dolls, her dogs, ice skating on the frozen canals, fashion, Gladiolus and Summertime! She was baptized in the high school swimming pool. She attended Bear River High and was an editor of the Bearfax yearbook. After her graduation she attended Utah State University.

Nacele and Calvin Douglas Stewart were sealed in the Logan Temple on January 30,1959. They were blessed with 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls; Sherry Stewart Crandall (Dan), Jon Douglas Stewart (Lisa), Robert Dane Stewart (Trina), Dartha Stewart Willes (Brad), Glory Krista Stewart (Jim), Justin Eric Stewart (Heather), Alexia Dawn Stewart (Erik), and Tyson Kurtis Stewart (Amanda).

Stewart family life was filled with many adventures including farming, mining, and summers spent dismantling 2 government radar sites and one missile site where there was no electricity nor running water. Nacele always had an opportunity to put her many talents and skills to good use. Despite many hardships, she went through life serving others, sewing, washing, ironing, canning, singing, embroidering, drawing, painting, gardening, writing, being creative and most of all mothering.

Nacele wore many hats throughout her life. As a newlywed in Idaho she worked on a potato harvester, as a young mother she was a reporter for the Times News in Twin Falls, ID and she worked at Sears in the Interior Decorating Dept. In Hammett, ID she was Weighmaster during the potato harvest season and she taught Head Start (pre-school) at the old Hammett School. She was the Advertising Manager for the I.V. Newspaper in Cave Junction, OR. In Utah she was an Executive Assistant for Aspen Home Health, Rocky Mountain Home Health and Elite Grounds Landscape Co.

She was a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many ward positions including Presidents of Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary; rounding it out with Chorister and Scouting. Nacele loved music and singing. She taught herself to write music and play the piano.

Nacele married Harold Leon Hart on June 2, 2001 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Harold also has 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls; Bill Hart, Teresa Philips, Donna Stapley, Sonya Robertson, Jeremy Hart, Travis Hart, Curtis Hart and Yolanda Hart. Together they have 16 children, 61 grandchildren, and 77 great grandchildren!

Nacele and Harold were able to serve several church missions. They served an 18 month to Sydney, Australia, an 18 month service mission for Lindon Utah Dry Pack, a service mission to Nauvoo, Illinois and they served as cooks for Pioneer Treks.

Family was always number one to Nacele. She loved her family so very much. Each year she put together a big Christmas Bingo party which was looked forward to and enjoyed by all. She never missed a marriage, baptism, baby blessing, or any life event if possible.

During her long and courageous battle with cancer Nacele had her very own quilt show and gave away 100 of her beautifully made quilts to loved ones, each with an inspirational message of hope attached to each quilt. Nacele’s Quilt Show was highlighted on the front page in the Salt Lake Tribune. She was also able to make a much anticipated trip to Denmark, a highlight from her bucket list, to see the ancestral birthplace of her relatives. Nacele was also happy to be able to put together a collection of her songs and poems into a book, "Then Sings My Soul" just months before her death.

She has always lived a Christ-like life and truly looked for ways to lighten the burdens of others, even though at times she had heavy burdens of her own. She started out many mornings singing, "Oh What a Beautiful Morning". She was the best mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend that anyone could ever ask for. Like sewing quilts, she said she got through life one seam at a time.

Nacele Johnson Stewart Hart is survived by her loving husband Harold Hart, sisters Barbara Tingey, Lola Christensen, Shirleen Anderson, and her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was our Merry Sunshine.

She was preceded in death by her parents E. Lewis and Ida Johnson, her husband Calvin Douglas Stewart, and three brothers, Stanley Johnson, Hollis Johnson and DeVerl Johnson.
