Meriam Nielsen

–

Orem, Utah

Meriam Jackson Nielsen was born April 29, 1947 to Scott and LuDean Jackson in Logan, Utah. She returned to her Father in Heaven on December 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Meriam attended school in Logan and attended beauty school there. Instead of taking the licensing exam, she decided to marry the love of her life.

Meriam met Alan when she was just 14 years old and they had their first date at the Logan County Fair. He was her first and last kiss as well as her one true love. They were married on January 20, 1967 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised 4 children and watched their family grow to include sons and a daughter in law as well as 14 grandchildren. Her family and grandchildren were her source of happiness.

Meriam was born and raised as an Aggie fan and she loved her Aggies. Living in Cougar country wasn’t always easy. She was also an avid Utah Jazz fan and family home evenings were often spent either weeding or watching the Utah Jazz play.

Meriam served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints although she always said being on the activities committee was her favorite. She prepared many meals, programs and memories for the people in her ward. She was blessed with many ward members who became her guardians and kept a close eye on her in the years since her husband's passing. Her family is so thankful for the friends and neighbors that loved her as much as we do.

Meriam worked for many years at Deseret Book and later Granite Publishing. She enjoyed her time getting to meet people and authors there. Through her job she made many lasting friendships.

Meriam was the oldest of five daughters. She loved her sisters and enjoyed the times they got to spend together. Meriam was blessed with two amazing parents who were great examples of service and kindness. Meriam followed in their footsteps in so many ways.

Meriam is survived by her four children. Alan Wade (Kate) Nielsen and their children Elisabeth and Malcolm Luke. Kimberly (Spencer) Nielsen and their children Kayden, Brandon, Brycen and Kamri. Michelle (John) Aznar and their children Joseph, Mahlia, Jackson and Cooper and Taralyn Nielsen and her children Maddie, Cameron, Mylee and Sam. She is also survived by her four sisters Sherrie, Dee Ann, Laurie and Gay as well as many brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Alan and her parents Scott and LuDean Jackson.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday December 8th, 2023 at the Nelson Family Mortuary located at 4780 N University Ave in Provo, Utah. The funeral will be held at the same location at 11 am on Saturday December 9th with a viewing held from 10-10:45 prior to the funeral.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses who lovingly cared for our mom. Dr. Lloyd became not only her eye doctor but her friend. Her hospice nurse Sarah who loved her for the two days she knew her. Doctors Thorpe, Dickinson and Romney who lovingly cared for her these last few months.
