Orem, Utah
Mary Lynne Crawford, 88, of Orem, Utah, passed away on November 5, 2024. She was born March 28, 1936 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Vance Earl Baxter and Edna Elaine Clark Baxter. She was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Pleasant Grove and Orem and knew her husband Carl Wesley Crawford from birth. They began dating in the 7th grade and were married on December 9, 1955 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Carl was the love of her life. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1993.
During their early marriage, Mary Lynne and Carl both worked for Utah Power and Light Co. She loved to volunteer as a poll worker during each election and she worked at UVU in the bookstore during the beginning of each new semester. She enjoyed working, but her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent her time serving her family, her ward and community. She loved to attend sporting events, dance performances, piano recitals, choir concerts and every other activity anyone in her family was involved in. She loved to travel with her husband and family. During their time together, they traveled to Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Central America and every state in the nation, including her favorite, Hawaii, several times.
Mary Lynne was an accomplished seamstress and loved to quilt by hand, macrame, crochet and knit. She created many beautiful hand stitched quilts and afghans which she would give to her children and grandchildren. She was kind, loving, thoughtful, selfless, strong, and full of charity. She had many friends including her “club” friends and was an active member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved to play games with her family and friends and was a fierce competitor to the very end.
Above all, Mom loved Jesus Christ. She was a disciple of Christ in every way. She led her family in righteousness and unwavering faith. That is the legacy she chose to leave in our hearts and souls. She served actively in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including in the Primary presidency, Relief Society president, and Young Women’s leader. She loved her time serving in the Provo, Utah and Mt. Timpanogos, Utah temples as an ordinance worker and coordinator. She also served valiantly and quietly by Dad’s side as he served as a Bishop and a Stake President.
Mary Lynne is survived by her 4 children, Gary Carl Crawford of American Fork, Utah, Roger (Brenda) Crawford of Queen Creek, Arizona, Paula (Gary) Parker of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Jill (Paul) Petty of Orem, Utah, 32 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, parents, Vance Earl Baxter and Elaine Clark Baxter, and her sisters Shirley Baxter and Audrey Brown.
