Obituary for
Makayla Peterson
Makayla Peterson, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on December 20, 2016. Makayla was born on November 5th, 1999 in Provo, Utah to James Kay Peterson and Martha Grace Peterson.
Makayla attended Canyon Crest Elementary, Centennial Middle School, Timpview High School and Orem High School. As a young girl, Makayla loved performing. In all of her free time, she loved photo shoots, dress up, dancing, and singing. She was always surrounded by her friends, and always had a smile on her face. She had an infectious personality that everyone wanted to be around. You could always find her filming dance videos with Jamie. Even at young age, she always put other’s needs before her own.
Makayla’s talents were infinite. Once she set her mind to something, she was quickly able to accomplish it. She was an artist, a dancer, an athlete, a musician, an entrepreneur, a traveler, and a Disney-aholic. She could draw, paint, and create from a very young age. She competitively danced and enjoyed being in performances of The Nutcracker with Jamie for many Christmases. She loves her cheer teams, both OHS and the Hive. She loves tumbling as much as she loves stunting. She was on the Orem High Golf Team and had a beautiful golf swing. She started playing the piano at the young age of five. She fell in love with the piano. Everyone loved utilizing her amazing talent in Seminary, Young Womens, Sacrament Meeting, etc. She has such a talent of bringing the spirit with her music. She loves to sing, especially hymns and Disney songs. Her guitar skills were self taught and she was able to perform frequently and in front of many. She created her thriving business, Mowgleti, creating the art that she so loved. She sold all over the nation through her Etsy shop. Makayla was always looking forward to the next family trip. Disney was her favorite, but anywhere with family was a great vacation.
Makayla is a spiritual giant. Her testimony of the Gospel is who she is. She blesses so many lives through her love of the Gospel and of Christ. She is never ashamed to open her mouth and share her testimony through social media, with her friends or with anyone she comes in contact with. Many will remember Makayla by her christlike attributes.
Her most recent loves were dinosaurs, anything Disney, mint chocolate, chicken nuggets, her friends, tumbling, country music, creating music, and The Temple.
Makayla is survived by her parents, James and Martha Peterson, her sisters, Jessica Larsen, Marinda Westwood, and Jamie Owen, and her brothers-in-law, Benjamin Larsen, Kevin Westwood, and Scott Owen. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Jameson Peterson.
Makayla lived by her favorite quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
