Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Lawrence Dow Lawlor\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\tLawrence Dow Lawlor, 84, passed away on June 19, 2018, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT, as a result of a ruptured aortic aneurysm. \n\nLarry was born May 18, 1934, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He was the oldest child of Lawrence Vincent and Wilma Dow Lawlor. He attended school in Alberta. On July 13, 1958, Larry met the love of his life and eternal companion, Barbara Jean Blacker, while both attended summer school at BYU in Provo. They were engaged in August and married on December 22, 1958 in the Alberta Temple in Cardston, Alberta. Larry and Barbara welcomed five children into their home. \n\nLarry did many things in his life, but if you were to ask his profession, we would say above all, Dad was a teacher. He taught seminary and religion classes at BYU. He taught math at the junior high and high school levels. Most of all, though, Dad taught his children from an early age and throughout life. He loved learning, and shared that love with his kids.\n\nDad was a friend to many and loved giving service. He served an LDS mission in the Eastern Canada Mission, and then later with Barbara in both Ireland and Tacoma, Washington. Dad served in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple for years, and loved every minute of it. \n\nLarry is survived by his wife, Barbara, five children: Susan (Robb) of Houston, TX., Gary (Merianne) of Orem, UT., Jay (Aimee) of Hillsboro, OR., Erin of Orem, UT., and Robin (Robert) of Bakersfield, CA. Dad has eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. \n\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Ave., Provo, Ut. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
