Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend Laura Fetterman Jones Rolie, 78, passed away on April 13th, 2026.
Laura was born in Provo, Utah on December 27, 1947 to Jack and Ruth (Allred) Fetterman. Laura was raised in Reseda, California alongside her younger brother, Jack, whom she adored. Laura had many wonderful memories of her time in Reseda, where she met many lifelong friends. Laura was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and cherished her time spent in service and friendships made.
Laura met Lorin Jones at a Stake Christmas Dance in Long Beach, California. They were married on April 14, 1970 and were sealed in the Manti temple. Together they had four children: Melinda (Greg) Slater, Becky (Ryan) Oleson, Nathan (Elizabeth) Jones, and Jackie (Tom) Durrant. Lorin and Laura raised their family in Spanish Fork, Utah and lived there for years until moving to Orem, Utah where they were welcomed with open arms. Lorin passed away August 2010. Laura later rekindled a friendship with Bruce Rolie, whom she had known in high school. This friendship grew into love and later marriage on July 8, 2015 in Highland, Utah.
Laura was a gifted actress, artist, and writer who deeply appreciated the fine arts. One of her favorite professional roles was serving as the Arts Editor for the Provo Daily Herald during the 1980s. While working as the arts editor, Laura reviewed numerous cultural events and interviewed many celebrities. Her children have cherished memories from this time, because Laura included them on outings when she received extra tickets to events. When extra tickets were available, Laura would allow her children to take turns going on a special date with her. Through these shared experiences, Laura instilled a lifelong love of the arts in her children as well.
Laura is survived by her husband, Bruce Rolie; her brother, Jack (Marilee) Fetterman; her children and their spouses; and her stepson, Trevor (Alyssa). She also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren: Ami (Caleb), Zac, Nic, Colby, Sophie, Bri (Sadie), T.J., Kevin, Abby, Tim, Katie, Zayne (Saige), Portia (Mitchel), Misha, Gunnar, Dayton, and Faith; six great-grandchildren: Audrey, Paisley, Ember, Kage, Liam, and Weston; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Lorin, both of her parents, and son-in-law Nicholas Craig Ostler.
Services will be held at the LDS Chapel at the Edgemont 4th Ward 4056 Timpview Drive, Provo, UT. A viewing will take place Friday April 17th from 7:00-9:00 pm and Saturday April 18th from 10:00 – 11:00am. Funeral Services will be Saturday April 18th at 11:00am.
