Kristin Rose

–

Provo, Utah

Kristin Farr Rose, 60, passed away peacefully in Provo, Utah on September 27, 2026.
Kristin was born on August 16, 1966, in Seattle, Washington, to Dan and Deborah Farr. She was welcomed by her older sister, Karen, and later joined by younger brothers, Eric and Brent. Kristin moved with her family to Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of six. Growing up in Alaska fostered a lifelong love of the outdoors and adventure. She attended Service High School, where she excelled academically and earned a varsity letter in tennis, a sport she would continue to enjoy throughout her life.

Kristin attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1988 with a degree in Marketing. While at BYU, she met the love of her life, Scott Rose. The two married in December 1987 and began a partnership rooted in faith, friendship, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Following graduation, Kristin and Scott moved to San Clemente, California, where Kristin worked in market research and Scott started his career with NIKE. Scott's career would take the family across the country, including time in San Marcos, Texas, where they welcomed their first child, Kyle, and Salt Lake City, Utah, where their daughter Hannah was born. Eventually, they settled in Beaverton, Oregon, where they completed their family with Andrew and Mitchell and built a home that would remain the center of countless cherished memories for 26 years. In each location, Kristin was able to work from home and still be a full-time mom, a role she absolutely cherished.

Kristin devoted herself fully to both her family and her community. She shared her time and talents through teaching Art Literacy in local schools, volunteering in school offices, teaching SAT preparation classes, and serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care. Recently she spent 2.5 years as a volunteer teacher helping Peruvian missionaries learn English and prepare themselves for scholarship opportunities after their missions were completed. Education, mentorship, and helping others recognize their potential were passions that remained constant throughout her life.

To many of her children's friends, Kristin was a second mom. Her door was always open and, just as importantly, so was her kitchen. There always seemed to be a place at the table and a fresh batch of her famous Oreo cookies waiting on the counter. She loved hosting game nights and bringing people together around the table for cards, and of course always supplied the snacks and treats. There was always room for one more person, and she had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like they belonged.

Kristin loved tennis, traveling, spending time outdoors, and creating meaningful experiences with those she loved. After Scott's retirement, they set a goal of visiting a National Park every month throughout 2023. Together they explored some of America's most beautiful places, embracing a season of adventure and creating memories that reflected their shared love of nature and one another.

One of the most meaningful adventures of Kristin and Scott’s life was a recent trip to Kenya, where they helped build a school for children in a rural village. The experience reinforced Kristin’s deep belief in the power of education to transform lives and left a lasting impact on both her and Scott. Just days after returning home from Kenya in April 2024, Kristin received a diagnosis of glioblastoma and soon underwent her first brain surgery.

Though the diagnosis changed many aspects of life, it never diminished Kristin's spirit. She and Scott remained committed to embracing every day and every opportunity to make memories together. They continued exploring National Parks, attended the U.S. Open in New York City, relaxed on the beaches of Hawaii, sailed with friends in the San Juan Islands, and spent treasured time with their children and grandchildren in Portland and Nashville. Through every challenge, Kristin faced life with courage, gratitude, optimism, and grace.

Her life was grounded in deep faith and a firm belief that family was life's greatest blessing. She celebrated milestones big and small, supported those around her through difficult seasons, and taught by example the importance of service, kindness, resilience, and unconditional love.

Above all else, Kristin's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother who cherished every opportunity to gather with those she loved. Whether around a game table, on a family vacation, or simply sharing a meal together, Kristin's greatest happiness came from creating connections and memories that would last a lifetime.

Kristin is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 39 years, Scott Rose; her parents, Dan and Deborah Farr; her siblings, Karen Hopkin, Eric Farr, and Brent Farr; her children Kyle Rose (Kimberly), Hannah Roth (Alex), Andrew Rose (Kaley), and Mitchell Rose; and her cherished grandchildren Reese, Wesley, Avery, and Rowan.
Her Celebration of life is planned for October 10th in Provo, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kristin Rose Foundation. Inspired by Kristin's lifelong commitment to education, service, and investing in others, the foundation was established following her meaningful work helping build a school in Kenya. Her family later returned to the same village to continue expanding that school and supporting its students. Through scholarships and ongoing educational opportunities, the foundation will carry forward Kristin's belief that education has the power to change lives and create brighter futures for generations to come.

Though her time with us was far too short, Kristin's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she served, and the countless lives she touched through her generosity, faith, hospitality, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
