Kenneth Hansen 1937-2020
Surrounded by loved ones, Kenneth Louis Hansen peacefully passed away in his Provo, Utah home on December 29, 2020.
Born March 24, 1937, in Los Angeles California to Edgar J. and Mary A. Hansen, "Kenny" was the youngest of five children. Upon graduation from Freemont High School in 1955, he promptly signed a contract with the Milwaukee Braves as a starting first baseman. After a career ending injury Ken moved back west to attend Brigham Young University on a full athletic scholarship. In 1959, Ken married Ruth Linford and embarked on a career in commercial casualty insurance sales. He was able to open his own agency in 1977 in Orange County California and maintained his company until his retirement in 2005.
Throughout his adult years, Ken had many interests and passions. He loved all sports, including baseball, biking, tennis, and pickleball. Ken remained active in athletics until his mid-seventies. Blessed with a near photographic memory, Ken was a voracious reader of scriptures, history, war, and politics. One of the hobbies Ken was most dedicated to was genealogical research. Through his tireless pursuit of family history, Ken grew to have a deep love and appreciation for his ancestors. More than anything in this world, Ken loved his five children, fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. At his 80th birthday celebration, when asked what his greatest achievement in life was, without hesitation he replied "My family."
Memorial services will be held for Kenneth Louis Hansen on Saturday January 9, 2021, at Nelson Mortuary in Provo, Utah.
