Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Karien Maria Schumann\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\tKarien Maria Schumann passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2017 in Provo, Utah at the age of 50.\n\nKari is survived by her mother, Elaine Schumann, and her six siblings: Larisa Schumann, Erik Schumann (Krista), Kirsten Schumann Hinton (Rob), Rachel Schumann Montalvo (Angel), Jacob Schumann, and Elisa Schumann Hamblin (Jeremy). She was a devoted aunt to her seven nieces and five nephews. She is preceded in death by her father C. Garn Schumann, her grandparents Clarence E. Schumann and Olea Pulsipher Schumann, and Louis G. Christensen and Wilma Ruth Peery Christensen. \n\nKari was born on August 18, 1967 in Provo, Utah to C. Garn Schumann and Ruth Elaine Christensen Schumann. The family relocated to California for Garn’s employment when Kari was a toddler. Kari attended Pleasant Hill Elementary, Sequoia Middle School, and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School in 1986. She later attended Diablo Valley College in Concord, California where she studied Early Childhood Education. She worked many years as a preschool teacher in California and as a nanny after relocating to Provo. Kari had a warm and tender heart, though she sometimes struggled to show her feelings. She loved puzzles, especially crosswords, and especially loved doing family history research. Her siblings remember her small, thoughtful gifts and her wacky sense of humor.\n\nA funeral is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 11 AM at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 North University Avenue, Provo 84604. Friends and loved ones are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral. Family and close friends are invited to the graveside service after the funeral at East Lawn Memorial Hills, 4800 East Lawn Drive, Provo, Utah.
