Provo, Utah
June (Butterfield) Miller, age 81, and formerly of Marshall, Virginia, died in Provo, Utah on August 20, 2022. She passed away suddenly as the result of a stroke. She spent the past four years close to her grandchildren and an increasing number of great-grandchildren, something that brought her great joy in her final days.
June was born in Murray, Utah and spent her childhood surrounded by her large Butterfield family in Riverton, Utah. She always spoke fondly of all her fun friends she grew up with along Redwood road. After her studies at Brigham Young University, June moved to Los Angeles where she worked and soon after met her husband, Bill. Life and employment took them across the country to Philadelphia and eventually to the suburbs of Washington DC where they raised their family. June was hard-working and determined. She worked in the auto business and eventually channeled her energy into a successful business, Leesburg Used Cars.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Shon Whitney of Provo, Utah, and her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Miller of Roanoke, Texas, eleven grandchildren (Sam, Sarah, Mackenzie, Michael, Jackie, Maddy, Katie, Nathan, Jacob, Lacy and Joey) and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Brenda Butterfield of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and her brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Karen Butterfield, of Heber City, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) D. Miller and by her parents, Almon Leroy and Melba Putnam (Cooper) Butterfield, her brother, Almon Leroy Butterfield Jr., and her sister, Dona Mae (Butterfield) King.
A huge thank you to all those friends in her life from Riverton to LA, to Churchville to Herndon, to Leesburg to Warrenton and finally her wonderful caretakers at Courtyard at Jamestown. We love you and appreciate all of you so dearly!
In lieu of funeral services, a private ceremony will be held in her memory in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at a later date. In June's memory, please consider donating to the Latter-Day Saint Charities humanitarian fund:
