Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Ellen Josephine Jacobson (Fraga)\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\tEllen Josephine Jacobson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on March 22, 2017 at the age of 96. \n\nShe was born on November 7, 1920 in Santa Barbara,, California to Josephine Ellen Fraga Silva and Joseph Silva. Due to her mother's death from a kidney infection after Ellen's premature birth, Ellen was adopted by her grandparents Joseph Louis Silva and Ellen Marian Zurmuhlen, with Aunt Clara and Uncle Joe being her older siblings who became known educators. She was very proud of her Santa Barbara heritage having ancestors who were involved in the settlement of this famous city. \n\nShe attended elementary school, La Cumbre Jr. High and Santa Barbara High School graduating in 1939. She was beautiful, gregarious, optimistic, and fun. She enjoyed being president of the drama club, tennis, dancing, learning and a great enthusiasm and energy for life and friendships. From 1939 to 1941, she attended Santa Barbara Business College. She became the head bookkeeper for The Hughes (high quality clothing store) from 1955 to 1985. \n\nEllen met her sweetheart Ernest Jacobson in Santa Barbara and were happily married in 1942 for 57 years until his passing. They had two daughters, Marsha Acheson who preceded her in death, and Susan Tomlinson with whom she lived with for many years. Totally devoted to her husband, children and church, she was a shining example of love, kindness and patience. Her memory will be kept dear and cherished by her daughter, seven grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren, relatives and those who knew her. \n\nFamily and friends are welcome to celebrate Ellen's life at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 North University Ave., Provo, UT on Saturday, March 25, 2017. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 followed by a service from 2 to 3 and interment at the Orem Cemetery.
