He was raised on a farm in La Jara, Colorado before attending BYU and earning a degree in Physics. Eldon served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Spanish American Mission in Texas. He married Barbara Peterson and together they had four children. Eldon worked as a civilian with both the US Navy and US Air Force as an electrical engineer. He lived in California for three decades before moving to Utah. Eldon was involved in Boy Scouts of America for most of his adult life in various capacities, including Scoutmaster , and helped many young men earn their Eagle Scout rank. He also coached his children’s baseball and soccer teams. Eldon enjoyed woodworking and traveling around the world. Researching family history was one of his passions and he liked to mentor others in this area. Eldon loved his family. He enjoyed sharing their accomplishments and the events in their lives. Eldon was a passionate BYU sports fan; the favorite was football, but he also watched mens' and womens' basketball and volleyball and an occasional soccer match. He subscribed to the local newspaper to follow the teams' TV scheduling. \n\nEldon was preceded in death by his parents Newel Knight and Florence Camp Knight, wife Mary Welch Knight, sister Maureen McRae, and son Steven Knight. He is survived by wife Linda Green-Tyler Knight, brother Melvin Knight, son Michael Knight and his wife Trisa Knight, son David Knight and his wife Sophie Kiss, daughter Jamie Bryson and her husband Nick Bryson, daughter-in-law Jen Fannen Knight, and 15 grandchildren.
