Douglas Young Obituary (1945 - 2016)

Obituary for Douglas Wayne Young Douglas Wayne Young November 27, 1945 to May 28, 2016 This beloved man passed away peacefully at home, in the company of much of his family. He was born in Amory, Mississippi to Everett (a Master Sergeant in the Marine Corp.) and his beautiful wife, Edith (from New Zealand). Doug’s family traveled to many parts of the world, including New Zealand, until his father’s death when Doug was only nine years old. Doug had many wonderful experiences in his life including: becoming Student Body President at the old BY High, along with being a running back on the football team, and a track star, setting state records. He also served an LDS mission to New Zealand. After his mission he met and married his wife, Evelyn in the Salt Lake Temple and graduated from BYU with a degree in sociology. He then started his long, faithful career of 38 years in the Financial Aid/Admissions Division of his al ma mater. “Papa” was a man who cherished his family above all else. He is survived in his immediate family by his 14 grandchildren, 4 children, and the love of his life “Evie”. This kind and gentle man will be greatly missed. His constant faith and love for his family never wavered, and all who knew him were better for it. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Oak Hills 9th Ward, 2000 N. 1500 E. Provo, Utah.
