Obituary for
Daniel Peter Diaz

Daniel Pedro Diaz of Orem Utah has finished his mission here on earth at the age 78 on October 11th, 2017 in Orem, Utah. He was born on October 7, 1939, in San Nicolas Argentina to Pedro Loreto Diaz and Elena Lucia Lalli.

At the age of 6 Daniel began his study of music by learning to play the Bandoneon, an instrument used in the Argentine Tango. The Bandeneon was one of Daniel’s passions, providing much enjoyment throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Maria de la flor Diaz, on August 10, 1961. Daniel decided the life of a musician was not the life he wanted for his growing family. He left his music profession to pursue a career in electronics. Daniel and Mariflor joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1963 and came to the United States to be sealed to his family in the Temple and further his education in 1970.

Daniel loved to learn. He always strived to improve his knowledge and his career through study. He was an entrepreneur in the true sense and followed his dreams leading him to work on many great projects in the audio-visual telecommunications field. He was a man ahead of his time.

Daniel served in many church capacities and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved to study the scriptures and shared insights with his family, those he served, and all those he came in contact.

Daniel maintained this love of music throughout his life. As his business career came to a close, he found opportunities to perform his beloved Bandeneon. He founded the Rio Plata Foundation and performed all over the country, including Carnegie Hall with the Tango Camerata to help educate others about the beautiful origin and history of Tango. His passion for Tango has influenced many and has left a legacy of its beauty for generations to come.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his sister-in-law Dora and is survived by his wife, Maria de la Flor and his 6 children Maria (David) Rhoades, Alex (Kathy) Diaz, David (Jennifer) Diaz, Jenny (Jed) Sant, Emmy (Bryan) Bradley and Michele (Alan) Wright, his 21 grandchildren, his brothers Omar Diaz, Ruben (Trini) Diaz and his sister Cristina (Amado) Molina.

Services will be held on Saturday. October 14th at 12pm at the Nelson Family Mortuary 4780 N. University Avenue in Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:30-11:45.
