Springville, Utah
Daniel Paul Aldridge, age 85, passed away November 12, 2021 in Provo, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born May 18, 1936 in Glendale, California. His formative years and education were divided between a small ranch in Central Texas and Avalon, Catalina Island, California. At nineteen he enlisted in the U.S Army and served as a hard hat Salvage Diver in the Army Corps of Engineers stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. It was at this time that he met the love of his life, Nancy Baber. They were married for 63 wonderful years. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1962. By 1965 he received his commission in the U.S Air Force, and later transferred back to the U.S. Army to attend flight school. He proudly served two tours as an airplane and helicopter pilot in Viet Nam from 1967-1968 and 1970-1971. His military career following Viet Nam included Military Intelligence and a final assignment as an Associate Professor of Military Science at Brigham Young University. He retired from the Army in 1981 with the rank of Major, with 23 years of service in the military. He then entered the private business sector, holding management positions with Rocky Mountain Helicopter in both Utah and Alaska and with Little Giant Ladder in Springville, Utah. He also worked for Alcoa Composites until his retirement.
Dan loved an adventure and, more importantly, he loved a shared adventure. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Through sixty-three years of marriage Dan and Nancy shared this love with their children, and grandchildren. Dan always delighted in having his family gathered, and his influence as a father, grandfather and great grandfather extended well beyond his immediate family. He was a collector of people, not of things. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, three older brothers and his grandson, Chase Hood.
Dan is survived by his dear wife and best friend the former Nancy Leonarda Barber of Alexandria, Virginia. His children Don Aldridge (Rich Mayo), Jacci Hood Miller (Jim Miller), Tamara Johnson (Brent Johnson) and Dana Brower. His grandchildren Chelsey Jolley (Clint Jolley), Chazman Johnson (Kaity Chapman), Kjersten Johnson (Ryan Turner), Tabitha Brower, Kyle Brower (Olivia Beck) and Camden Holman (Brock Holman). His great grandsons Bryton Hood and Finan Holman. He will be missed by all until we meet again.
