Obituary for \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Dan Reed Olsen\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\tDan Reed Olsen died on 31 October 2015 at the age of 87 from complications due to age and cancer. He is survived by his wife Cynthia and his children and spouses Dan(Vickie), Janet(Jon), Eric(Cassie), David (Joellen) and Kent(Lisa). He was born 23 May 1928 in Hyrum, Utah where he grew up. After graduating high school he entered the U.S. Navy and sailed to China. Following his tour in the Navy he served for 2 ½ years in the Danish Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission he met and married Darcus Hatch. They eventually moved to Central California where they raised their children and he worked as a banker. During their years in California he served as bishop on three different occasions as well as numerous other callings. After retiring from banking he formed a very successful turkey growing business. After retirement they served a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois. They eventually settled in Utah County. After Darcus’ death he married Cynthia Gammon. Together they served as temple workers in the Provo Temple and as Service Missionaries at the Courtyard Assisted Living Branch. He died a good man, dedicated to his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
