Clay Coleman

–

Midway, Utah

Our dear husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Clay Ritchie Coleman passed away June 10, 2023 from an infection while waiting for a liver transplant.
Clay (Onus) came into this world a bundle of energy and in his 58 years, he never stopped. He was born to Gary and Carol Ritchie Coleman on September 25, 1964 in Twin Falls, ID.

He was a man of integrity and honesty and lived life to the fullest. He was a model of service, love of family, friends, community and church. His decisions were based on his values, which were grounded in the teachings of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Clay served a mission for the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints in Christchurch, New Zealand from 1983-1985 and was able to return for a visit with his sweetheart Lisa in 2002. He loved the Māori people, the lifetime friends he met and companions he served with.

When Clay returned from his mission his dad had an old beat-up red pick- up that they rebuilt together. He spent hours with his dad sanding and working on this truck. He never met a project that he wasn’t willing to do or help with.

He had a passion for tomato juice, hot dogs, licorice, Swedish fish and made the best homemade chicken noodle soup in the family. He held “Aloha Fridays” for his work team and town, all while playing Jimmy Buffet music as loud as possible.

Clay married Lisa Gygi in the Jordan River Utah Temple on September 10, 1986. They served together in many callings including a BYU bishopric and the Salt Lake Temple Square Conference Center. He loved serving and meeting both the people he served with and those attending the various events held at the square.

Clay loved Midway Swiss Days. He worked for hours before, during and after every Labor Day weekend for over 35 years. He absolutely absorbed himself in the Swiss Day events.

Clay started his sign, logo and apparel business, CRC design, 26 years ago. He purchased the Signarama franchise for the Wasatch Back several years ago and loved this new adventure. He loved working with his son Spencer and all the employees he had over the years.

Clay is survived by his wife Lisa, daughters Ashli (Cody) Broadhead, Vanessa (Jacob) Schiess and sons Spencer (Lynsee) Coleman and Brett Coleman, along with ten grandchildren and one on the way. Sisters Veralynn, Colleen, Susan, Karen and brother Clint. Clay was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Kent Gygi, brother Chad and granddaughter, Oaklyn Broadhead.

Clay leaves an indelible mark upon this world and will be so missed. Kia Ora Mate. See you up top.
