Obituary for
Charles Roy Albright

Charles Roy Albright, 89, passed away peaceably to his heavenly home on Tuesday. January 19, 2016 in Gilbert, Arizona. His health declined quickly after contracting pneumonia the day after Christmas. Charles was born November 13, 1926 to Rogers Albright and Lillian Marie Brennen Albright in Dallas, Texas.

Within a few years, his mother moved her two boys near Los Angeles, California. Their mother passed away at an early age, and Charles and Roger grew up in various children's homes in the Los Angeles area. His only sibling, Roger Randolph Albright, was killed in the South Pacific in WWII. Charles attended Van Nuys High School in California before entering the Navy in 1944.

He married Barbara Lorraine McChesney July 25, 1947. Together they raised their two sons Chris R. and Casey R. Albright in Woodland Hills, California. In 1973 Charles and Barbara moved to Kihei, Maui, Hawaii where they lived for 22 years. They moved to Provo, Utah in 1995. Charles moved to Gilbert, Arizona in 2014 to be near Chris' family.

Charles served on the Los Angeles Police Department for 23 years. In addition, Charles was a general building contractor, and a swimming pool contractor. In Hawaii, he was a swimming pool contractor in partnership with his son Casey.

For hobbies, as time permitted through different phases of his life, Charles was a master woodworker, enjoyed restoring vintage cars and building high performance engines, and was an accomplished golfer. As a personal trait, Dad was a very hard-worker and always willing to befriend and help all he met.

In 1971, Charles and Barbara were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a faithful and dedicated member of the Church, Charles served in many Ward and Stake callings including Bishop, High Councilman, Young Men's Leader, and Temple Worker. Charles and Barbara served an LDS Mission in Bristol England during 1989-1991.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara (passed away July 20, 2005 in Provo, Utah), and brother Roger. He is survived by his two sons Chris (Peggy) in Mesa, Arizona and Casey (Linda) in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. Charles and Barbara have nine grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, who are the pride and love of his life.

The family extends a heart-felt thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors at Banner Gateway, Serenade Assisted Living, and Hospice of the Valley that gave Dad excellent care. Also to his friends and neighbors in Provo who gave selfless tireless service to Dad.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11a.m. at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Ave., Provo, Utah. Viewing will be held at the mortuary one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow after services at the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.

He is an incredible man, loved by all, and we bid him a loving farewell. Aloha oe, until we meet again. "Give Granny a big hug for us and keep some for yourself".
