Carolyn Worthington Monson

Carolyn Worthington Monson, a loving and compassionate woman of spirit and humility, passed away on August 30, 2026, just two days shy of her 71st birthday. Carolyn was born on September 1, 1955, in Spanish Fork, Utah, and lived in Orem for 31 years. She married her dear husband, Donald Monson, on May 4, 1984, and their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and a shared devotion to their family.

Carolyn was a dedicated school teacher who, despite only teaching for a few years, had a significant impact on the lives of her students at Hawthorn Academy in South Jordan, UT, before retiring in 2021. Outside the classroom, she found joy in playing piano and organ, watching movies, and embarking on adventures with her beloved grandchildren.

One of her favorite scriptures that she strived to live by was Isaiah 54:13, "And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children." Living and loving the gospel was a priority in her life.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Donald Monson; her children, Marie (Brian) Steffensen and Scott (Grace) Monson, and Karl (Kam) Monson; her grandchildren, Ruby and Henry Steffensen; and her brother, Brett (Tracy) Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don Worthington, and Marilyn Widdison.

A viewing service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Nelson Family Mortuary located at 4780 North University Avenue, Provo, Utah, and on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Church at 2168 South 140 West Street, Orem, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same Church location. A graveside service will take place at the American Fork Cemetery following the funeral.
