Brett Cornelius

Brett Gene Cornelius, our loving husband, father and friend passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2021. He was surround by his loved ones in the mountains where he felt happiest.

Brett's life started in October of 1967 born to Don Cornelius and Linda Turner. He began his adventure as the cutest baby and has always been so full of life. He went to high school at Mountain View in Orem where he met some of his life-long friends. He met the love of his life, Melissa Dee Cornelius (Patterson) during these years at Classic Skating. Five years after meeting they got married on their anniversary, April 21, 1989 and spent the next 32 years together. Soon after being married they welcomed their first child into the world Blake Gene, then daughter Cassi Dee.

Brett spent most of his early years at Classic Skating, Maple Lanes, and Valley Café. He started working in a warehouse as a temp in 1988. He has been with this company ever since now known as ModusLink. He was a manager as a Global Network Security Engineer. When he wasn't working he was tinkering, gardening, cooking or watching cooking shows. He enjoyed camping anywhere and everywhere, riding wheelers, fishing, motorcycle rides, and mostly being around his family and friends. He loved his family, those close and extended and was always the guy behind the camera. He was our IT guy, our confidant, our comedian, our voice of reason and our shoulder to lean on.

Brett is the knower of all things and could fix anything. You need something, he's got it. He had a hat for every occasion and a smart ass comment for almost every situation. He loved his dogs and loved to "collect" things. He especially loved his grandson Gene.

Brett had an impact and touched so many people's lives. You could always count on him to be at your event. He is going to be so greatly missed, not only by family and friends but especially Melissa, who was known to him as "gorgeous".

He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Springville), daughter, Cassi, son-in-law Jason and grandson Gene Christensen (Payson), father Don Cornelius, step mom, Cordy (Lindon), mother, Linda Turner, step father Steve (Spanish Fork), father-in-law, Rod Patterson, mother-in-law Vicki (Enoch), sister Abby Bray and brother-in-law Rory (Salem), sister Bonnie Hawkes and brother-in-law Alan (Payson), brother in-law Brandon Patterson (Provo), brother Dave Johnson (Lehi), brother Jared Johnson and sister-in-law Jamie (Lindon), brother Sam Turner and brother-in-law Dion (MN), sister Shanna Turner and brother-in-law Jeremy (Iowa), and sister Stephanie Miles and brother-in-law Seth (Iowa), and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his son, Blake Gene and mother-in-law, Patricia Patterson, along with grand parents and great-grandparents.

Viewing will be held at Nelson's Family Mortuary, 4780 North University Avenue, Provo, UT on Friday August 6, 2021 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Viewing will be held Saturday August 7, 2021 from 10:00am - 10:45am. Funeral will be held at 11:00 am.

Internment will be held at the Orem City Cemetery located at 1520 North 800 East, Orem UT.
There will be a motorcycle procession leading from the mortuary to the cemetery. All and any of those with bikes and muscle cars are encouraged to ride along.

A luncheon will be held for close family and friends to Celebrate the Life of Brett at the residence of Don and Cordy Cornelius located at 425 South 400 West Lindon, UT.
