Beverley Gunnels

Beverley Jean Gunnels, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 2, 2022. Beverley was born on May 14, 1936, in Fresno, California to William and Rona Munson. She attended Selma High School and enjoyed sports and home economic activities. In the summer months you could always find her water skiing on the Kings River. After high school graduation she attended Reedley College. While there she was crowned “Cotton Queen” her sophomore year. After college, she worked at Sears, Roebucks & Co. It was during this time that she met Wayne Gunnels. On June 5, 1959, they were married in a small ceremony in Bass Lake, California. They moved to Temple City, California, that same year. It is there that they raised 3 children. While in Southern California she worked as a preschool teacher for the First Baptist Church, she also worked for Washington Inventory Service and later enjoyed working as a florist.

Her love for the outdoors and nature was evident. If she wasn’t at the beach, you could find her hiking Mount Wilson Trail. Beverley spent nearly 20 years volunteering at The Arboretum in Arcadia, California. Her flowers and vegetable garden flourished under her care and were admired by all.

Beverley is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rona, her brother, Gary, and her husband, Wayne. She is survived by her three children, Roger, Patricia and Eric, and her grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica. She was very kind with a loving soul and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at One Hope First Baptist Church of Temple City, 6019 S Baldwin Ave, Temple City, CA 91780, on February 4, 2023, at 11:00am.
