Barbara June Francis Gustaveson

It is with sadness and great joy that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Barbara Gustaveson. She died on December 7, 2021, she was one month short of her 94th birthday. She has lived a full and wonderful life and earned her rest and eternal reward.

She was born and raised in the beautiful farming community of Morgan Utah along with 8 other brothers and sisters. She and her identical twin sister, Beverly Bond, were inseparable and what one couldn’t think of the other one did. They were frequently into mischief, and occasionally switched places. They dressed like twins their entire lives. Born in the middle of the depression they worked hard like everyone else, but lived a life of joy and laughter and gratitude.

Barbara was a loving wife and mother, completely devoted to her family. Service was her life! She fed, loved and cared for everyone within her reach. She found great purpose in serving others.

Our father’s employment took them away from Utah to southern California, and later settled in Santa Clara, California. These were some of their happiest years, raising their family and surrounded by loving friends in the Santa Clara Ward. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barbara had the opportunity to serve in many capacities... she was the ultimate Relief Society President!

Finally, in 1978 they returned home to Utah and lived in Sandy for 39 years, where they enjoyed their married children and grandchildren and many new friends. Our parents were a constant positive influence in our lives, we realize the great gift our parents have given us is unconditional love. After Lloyd’s death, Barbara moved to Orem to be closer to Carolyn. Barbara enjoyed life, her smile and contagious laughter brought light and joy to everyone who knew her.

The last remaining member of her family is her older sister, Thelma Bond, 99 years old. The story goes that their mother asked Thelma to take care of the twins; she certainly has done that her whole life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her daughters, Janet Gustaveson, and Lisa Berntson. From her family: her father, William Weisbrodt Francis, her mother, Cecelia Knight Francis. Siblings: Carl Francis, Rulon Francis, Leah Richins, Vera Brough, Grace Rich, Clarence Francis, and Beverly Bond.

Barbara and Lloyd’s surviving children are Carolyn Seale (Doug), Michael Gustaveson (Linda), Joan Hintz (Tim). They have 18 grandchildren, and 61great grandchildren. Our mother will be missed, her love for us and legacy of Christ like service will last for generations.

A viewing will be held in her honor at 9:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:00AM At the Nelson Mortuary 4780 N. University Ave., Provo, UT 84604, and a graveside service at approximately 2:00 PM at the South Morgan Cemetery, Morgan Utah.
