Arie Noot Obituary (1924

Obituary for Arie Noot Arie Noot, age 93, passed away on September 1, 2017. He was born May 24,1924. His life is the perfect example of service and integrity. Arie was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Theodorus and Diederika Noot. At the age of five, he met a girl in the neighborhood named Antje Ijlst, who became his best friend. Later, after WWII, they were married. Arie and Antje were married for 66 years until her death in 2012. Arie served in the Dutch underground, and then in the British SAS for the rest of WWII. He served in the USMC for a year after WWII. He then served in the Dutch Royal Marines, first as a tank commander in Indonesia, and then as an officer in New Guinea in battles. Arie was a highly decorated officer and received the highest order of knighthood, the Order of Orange Nassau. He retired as a Major. His career after the military was centered around the early adoption of computer science and navigational satellite systems. Arie was brilliant in mathematics, physics and chemistry; He had a broad knowledge of history even up until his last days. Arie and Antje raised 9 children as they lived in the Netherlands, Indonesia, New Guinea, back to the Netherlands, Florida, Belgium, Utah, Florida, Congo (Africa), Utah, Netherlands, Utah, Belgium and then back to Utah. Arie and Antje were the perfect example of service as they served three LDS missions and Arie served in many LDS church callings including bishop and district president. Arie and Antje also spent their lives in pursuit of helping their ancestors. They have found many thousands of ancestors who are all so happy to meet them. He is survived by his children Arie Noot (Beatrice), Armanda Bos (Carlo), Hans Noot (Margriet), Maartje Winston (David), Maurits Noot (Laura) and (Jill, deceased), Arnoud Noot (Susanna), Therese Taylor (Jay), Walter Noot (Michelle), and David Noot (Lana). He also has 37 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
