Alexandra Rae Ketterer, or "Alex" to those who knew her well and "Allie Kat" to those who knew her even better, has passed away after her long and courageous fight against stage 4 melanoma. Born in the frosty month of February in 1982 in the mountainous land of Sandy, Utah, she set off on a life’s journey that was as funny and adventurous as she was. If you happened to misplace your sense of humor, odds are Alexandra had borrowed it for a bit. After all, she was the type of woman who could find the humor in even the most mundane tasks, such as her day job as a bank teller. It was a job she had only held for a year, but trust us when we say, she had already left an indelible mark.
Alexandra was a woman of many talents, wielding both a nail technician license and a real estate license. She was also a proud and doting grandma to three handsome boys, Haze Asher and Ronan. In her spare time, she could be found adventuring in the great outdoors, camping, boating, getting her hands dirty with arts and crafts or simply enjoying her ice water on the front porch admiring her garden and the birds she attracted with her feeders and fountain. As they say, "Not all those who wander are lost," and Alexandra was never lost when she was exploring or creating.
Her family was her cornerstone, and she is survived by her spouse Justin Ketterer, her mother Ganiel Pettit, her daughters Haylee Swena and Cambria Ketterer, her son Cody Swena, and her stepchildren Brooklynn Ketterer, Kendon Ketterer, and Morgan Ketterer. She was preceded by her father Richard Pettit, her brother Dallas Van Vliet, her grandparents James (Bob) and Barbara Giles, and her grandmother Judy Pettit. To quote Alex herself, “It’s not goodbye, it’s see ya later.” Alexandra would have wanted us all to remember the good times, the laughter, and the love.
Please join us in celebrating her life at the Heber 7th Ward on Sunday, November 24th at 7:00 pm for a viewing, Monday, November 25th at 9:30 am for another viewing, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held at Heber City Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
In the spirit of Alexandra's love for storytelling and shared experiences, we encourage you to leave your favorite memories and upload photos of our beloved Allie Kat on her memorial page. After all, she still owes us a few laughs.
