Obituary for Walter Rieske

Walter Rieske
Walter (Bud) Rieske was born December 13, 1926 to Oswald and Cleone Clark Rieske in Provo Utah.

He attended school in the Provo school district, where he graduated from Provo High School. He was employed by his father in the Rieske Sand and Gravel company located approximately 1600 East 900 South Provo, Utah at the mouth of Slate Canyon. He was inducted into the U.S. Army serving as records clerk on the Alaskan Early Warning Island of Adak.

Upon returning home from the service he continued to help with his Father's business. He married Donna Lee Riding on December 18, 1946 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 16, 1955 Both Walt and Donna were very active in all their church callings and started their family in south Provo.

As his father's business began to be sold to Thorn Rock Products he had the opportunity to attend Utah Vocational School in Provo where he learned the trade of carpenter. He was employed as a carpenter at U.S. Steel, Geneva in Orem, Utah. He worked at Geneva Steel for over 30 years. After retirement he and Donna continued to be very active and began summer work for L & L service to manage forest service campgrounds. Their connection with the out of doors was greatly enjoyed.

In 1988 they purchased land in the Snow Bird world of Quartzite Arizona. They established a winter home and getaway there with many of their friends and relatives. They served an LDS mission in the Washington State area from 1994-1995.

After retirement Walt and Donna remodeled and resided in homes in the Monroe, Fountain Green, and the Nephi areas.
He spent his last 15 years in their Nephi home and in the Laurel Groves Care Center, loving that special world of friendship and caring neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, two granddaughters and one great grandson.
He is survived by one daughter; Gaye Rieske, and three sons; Don Rieske (Leah), Reed Rieske (Erva), and Mark Rieske.

We will miss his smile and help in life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Avenue, Provo, UT.
